What Makes American Football Stand Out From Other Sports Out There?

There's nothing like a good game of American Football. Sure basketball and baseball all have their place and football does too. Football isn't only popular in America; it's also played in Canada and in a few other countries around the world. Sure it seems quite similar to rugby, but it is actually quite a lot better. Maybe it's because the Americans love it so much, that's why all the glory and glamour comes along with this sport. Well anyway, it's a loved sport and that's all that matters to it. American football stands out from other sports because of many things. To start, here are a few reasons as to why it's different from the rest of the different sports in the world.

1. It's a game made by Americans for Americans.

It's a sport loved by almost all Americans. Sure it's a contact sport, but it's what gives football its oomph above the rest. The element of pain and bodies clashing against one another definitely gives the sport more drama. Things have definitely improved since the time football was invented in terms of protective gear, footwear and many other advances in technology. Several kids aspire to be good football players; they even start as early as grade school. There are several levels to play for as well. Almost every age group has their own football leagues or divisions. It's almost as if football is a right of passage even to most young American boys. Those who are lucky enough to get drafted by their respective schools also have the respect and admiration of their peers. Jocks, undeniably, have a high social status in the hierarchy of student popularity.

2. The Super Bowl is one culminating event of sports that has the highest ratings.

The event called the Super Bowl is so popular that companies are vying for its valuable airtime and even going as far as paying top dollar for just a few minutes of airtime. Television viewers watching the Super Bowl of course expect the best advertisements during the best football game of the season. Even its halftime show is arguably one of the best presentations in television. On the sports side of things, only the two best football teams of the season are part of the Super Bowl. It's a perfect combination of drama, heart, entertainment, thrill and suspense.

3. It's one of the movie industry's favorite sports themes to use.

When it comes to movies, there's nobody like a good director and a talented cast from Hollywood to make a good sports movie. Over the decades, there have been a lot of good movies like Remember The Titans, The Longest Yard (the original one that is), Varsity Blues, Friday Night Lights, and Jerry Maguire. The list goes on and on, and it doesn't show signs of stopping. For some reason, movies about football seem so much better than other sports movies, no offense to the other sports enthusiasts though. Perhaps it's about all the thrills about all those hits, tackles, and unbelievable catches that make people glued to their seats.
