Seven Items In A Complete Football Uniform

Football is one of the most celebrated American sports and it is enjoyed by millions of people each season that the Super bowl kicks in. But have you ever wondered what it takes to be a football player on the field? Sure, you need the skills and the training to be able to play professionally. But what do these professionals have to prepare for just getting into a game? Here is a look at some of the items that make a complete football uniform that each player on the field has to put on every time before they set foot on the field.

• Pants – They kind of look like cycling shorts in that they are almost skin tight but they are thicker and made of nylon which is a great material that will absorb sweat to keep the skin cool and as dry as possible. The material stretches and should not be too tight fitting.

• Jock strap – The one thing that has to be protected in this full-on contact sport is the groin area which can be quite excruciating if it is injured in any way. Most players will wear a jockstrap that has a hard coating that will protect the groin area. This is one of the hidden and most essential pieces of equipment in the football uniform.

• Shirt – Made of the same material as the shorts are, the shirt is where all team emblems, player numbers and colors are placed. The shirt is lightweight and should give the player enough freedom to be able to throw a football properly.

• Shoulder pads – Another of the most essential pieces is the padding that protects the shoulders. There are some padding items that also can extend to protect the chest area of a player but those can be quite heavy. Since the shoulders are very delicate these should be protected because any damage done to them is hard to repair.

• Knee and elbow pads – Players need to protect all their joints while playing this game. There are all sorts of elbow and knee pads that they can use from hard to soft material. The important thing is that the joints should be protected so that these do not detach during a game. These pads protect against hard impacts like when players tackle or pile up on each other during a game.

• Football cleats – Much like soccer cleats, the ones used in football are made of a tougher material and have spikes attached to the soles. These spikes provide better grip on the ground as players run and maneuver about on the field. The spikes are not made of metal like those in golf shoes but are rubberized and very sturdy. Still these can cause harm to the body which is why players need to get into their protective gear.

• Mouth guard – It's easy to damage one's mouth or teeth on the field especially if no mouth guard is being used. However, this is pretty much standard in a football helmet and they are usually attached to the chin strap so that it can be easily placed in the mouth.
