Three Of The Greatest N F L Players

The NFL is rich in history. There have been so many great moments and players who have been truly remarkable and memorable for this sport. There is no better sport than American Football and the NFL is the best league that could provide such intensity to the game.

The NFL is one of the most successful leagues in the sport. Only a few sports leagues could ever parallel its popularity, success and wealth. The sport and league is blessed for there were players that elevated the game into higher levels. Who are these players?

• Jerry Rice. There was no better wide receiver than this player. The next best wide receiver to him would be miles apart in terms of skill and abilities in his position. He has led every major statistic for wide receivers. He holds the record for most receptions in a career with 1,549 official receptions; the second placer was Marvin Harrison with only 447 receptions.

His receiving yards of 22,895 is far beyond the second placer. The 197 touchdowns that he made are 65 scores more than the 137 made by the second placer, Terrell Owens. These stats are amazing and we could basically say that his skills in this position are second to none.

His unique combination of speed, size, intelligence and toughness are what made him a legend in the sport. Can we say that this was the best player to have ever played in a Gridiron stadium? Perhaps he is, but it is safe to say that he was the best wide receiver to have ever played professional football.

• Joe Montana. He has won four Super Bowls and three MVP awards during his prime years. He was also labeled as Sportsman of the Year in 1990 by Sports Illustrated magazine. The NFL throughout the years is filled with amazing and talented quarterbacks; Joe might be the very best of them or at least he would be in the top ten if those quarterbacks are rated and valued.

He has the leadership skills like no other. Everyone in the team would eventually look up to him and respect him. He has so much love for the game and that is why he is very successful and popular. Even Tom Brady who is also a future Hall of famer recognizes Joe's great abilities. According to him, Joe Montana is his favorite quarterback of all time.

• Lawrence Taylor. He was nicknamed L.T. and he is considered to be one of the best players to have ever played the game. He has won three Defensive player of the year awards and has also won an MVP award for his superb performance in 1986.

L.T. was such a dominant force in the defensive end. He was believed to be the outside linebacker to have changed the pass rushing schemes and offensive formations in the NFL. This amazing player was the person responsible for changing the methods of playing defense. No one was as dominant in the defensive end as this guy.

Many current teams are searching for the next L.T. by drafting athletic linebackers; however, there is still no one that could ever match what L.T. did for American Football.
